KARAN THAKUR

In the serene embrace of Dharchula, cradled within the embrace of Pithoragarh in the ethereal realm of Uttarakhand, Karan embarked upon his journey of existence. From the dawning of his consciousness, a profound affinity for art flowed through his very being. Those early years, when the world was a canvas awaiting his touch, he wove his thoughts onto books and notebooks, conjuring visions of wonder with each stroke. The act of creation, an intimate dialogue between his soul and the universe, became his sanctuary.

This creative fervor, an unwavering flame, traversed the labyrinth of time and found its place in the tapestry of his life's narrative. Destiny, in its enigmatic whispers, led him to the threshold of BFA, a revelation sparked by the guiding light of an elder sibling. The halls of knowledge unfurled like pages of an ancient manuscript, each lesson expanding the horizons of his artistic voyage. And so, he stands amidst the dawn of his BFA journey, within the venerable walls of Soban Singh Jina University in Almora.

In the present, every day metamorphoses into a symphony of lines and colors, an expedition of self-discovery facilitated by the artistry he wields. The canvas has evolved into his confidant, absorbing his dreams and fears, reflecting his evolution as a soul. Progress, though subtle, is a testament to his devotion, akin to the gentle unfurling of a flower at sunrise. His mentors encompass not only the scholars of his institution but also the world around him — every rustle of leaves, every whispered emotion.

Thus, within the interplay of shadows and luminescence, of deliberate strokes and purposeful gaps, Karan finds his essence. Dharchula's essence pulses through his veins, and the artistic lineage of Pithoragarh's legacy courses through his veins. His journey as an artist unfurls, an eternal exploration of aesthetics, truth, and the boundless realm of creation.

TARUN BISWAS

I am Tarun Biswas, hailing from the picturesque state of Uttarakhand, and my artistic passion lies in capturing the essence of human faces through portraits. Since a very tender age, I have been inexplicably drawn to the allure of faces, fascinated by the rich tapestry of emotions and expressions that different races possess. This fascination led me to embark on a creative journey centered around portraiture.

My artistic odyssey began by portraying my family members—my brother, father, mother, and other beloved kinfolk. Gradually, I broadened my horizons and ventured into painting the faces of celebrities, the innocence of children, and the wisdom etched on the countenances of the elderly. Even today, I derive immense joy from capturing the wisdom and stories etched into the features of the elderly. The diverse nuances and shades that distinguish each face offer me a profound sense of fulfillment and satisfaction, as I immerse myself in the world of my artwork. Recently, I have been engrossed in a series of paintings dedicated to women. With each brushstroke, I strive to depict the multifaceted aspects and deep emotions that women embody in society.

Using acrylic medium on canvas, I endeavor to breathe life into my artistic expressions. My paintings bear titles such as "Umeed," "Talash," "Virah," and "Umang," each associated with different emotions that reflect my innermost feelings, which I earnestly seek to convey through the vivid strokes of my brush. My artworks become a conduit through which I share my emotions with the world, hoping to resonate with the hearts of those who view them.

The support and mentorship provided by the artists will undoubtedly be instrumental in their artistic growth. Jagmohan ji, in his wisdom and experience, assured the youth that they are not alone in their artistic journey. He emphasized the importance of working as a family, where guidance and support are always available. It has served as a stepping stone for each participant, igniting their creative spirits and setting them on a path of continuous exploration and growth. The journey of art is a never-ending one, filled with endless possibilities and discoveries.

Like a river flowing into the ocean, merging with its vastness,
Let your creativity flow like pure rivers, sparkling and pristine.
Deep like a lake, expansive like an ocean,
Let it flow like a cool breeze, refreshing and inspiring.
Your artistic mood may change with the weather,
Sometimes cold and contemplative, sometimes joyful like a monsoon rain.
So let your colors flow, expressing your unique essence,
But remember to keep flowing, never ceasing,
For this is not the end, but the path itself.

As we conclude this workshop, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you. Your passion, dedication, and creativity have made this workshop an unforgettable experience. We hope that the connections made, the knowledge gained, and the memories created will stay with you as you continue on your artistic journey. 🙏🏼

PAHAD KE RANG: ALMORA

The "Pahad Ke Rang" an art mentorship workshop is going to be organized by "Udayam" at CBC Art Studio in Almora between 9th and 15th July 2022. There will be 23 upcoming artists whom I am going to mentor in this workshop. I truly believe that it is a great initiative to support upcoming artists from rural areas of Uttarakhand.

Coming from a similar rural background myself, I can truly understand and relate to the challenges and aspirations of these young artists. I believe that guidance and mentorship will be invaluable to them as they explore possibilities to establish themselves in the field of art. During the six-day workshop, I will have the chance to interact with these enthusiastic artists, share my knowledge, and provide them with insights into the art industry. I can offer guidance on various aspects of art, such as techniques, styles, composition, and finding their unique artistic voice.

Additionally, I will be sharing my own art journey with them which could be inspiring for them. My story as an artist will serve as motivation for these young talents, showing them that it is possible to succeed in the art world, regardless of their rural background.

The workshop will also provide a platform for networking and collaboration among the participants. Encourage them to share their ideas, learn from each other, and create a supportive community of artists. This sense of camaraderie and shared passion will further fuel their artistic growth and development.
